GIScience 2021 CIRCULAR No. 11

By Jakub Nowosad | 2021-09-21

Dear GIScience 2021 Conference Participants,

The 11th International Conference on Geographic Information Science is fast approaching. We remind you that the conference program is available on the webpage:

Presentations of short papers are 10 min, while full papers are 15 min. The preferred and safe format of the presentation is PDF, but it is also possible to prepare it in the PowerPoint format (preferably without sound and movie). Presenters can use screen sharing, whiteboard and run live code/software demos within the allocated presentation time. If your presentation contains video or audio clips and you decide to screenshare you will need to use Google Chrome web browser.

During the conference you will be able to deliver your presentation either by sending us a pdf with your slides or by screensharing your presentation. We recommend the former as it provides for smoother presentation experience for both the presenter and the audience. Please send us your presentation file (PDF, PPTx, MP4 files or by providing a YouTube link) this week to Please use this format for files: Number of your session_Your name.PDF, i.e. Session3_Zwolinski.PDF.

The main track of the conference will be held in a conference room of the ClickMeeting, while two chat rooms will be available during breaks. To avoid technical issues, we recommend two ClickMeeting training sessions this week:

  • on Thursday September 23, 8:00 - 16:00 (UTC + 02:00),
  • on Friday September 24, 12:00 – 18:00 (UTC + 02:00),

These will be ongoing sessions and you can drop in at any time during the indicated time intervals. You can test your presentation, mic, and camera. You can get answers to questions concerning the use of ClickMeeting from the conference organizing staff. Should you decide to screenshare your presentation it is essential that you attend a training session and test your laptop. This will help to eliminate potential problems with screensharing during your presentation. Also, we recommend that you use two screens: one for screensharing your slides and another for the presenter’s camera view.

Each session will be recorded and shared online. If you object to having your presentation recorded please let us know by contacting the conference organizers at

Links to conference rooms will be sent on Friday.
