Dear GIScience 2021 Conference Participants,
First of all, congratulations again for getting your paper accepted at GIScience 2021. As you may have seen, we put the program online last week. It is designed to support as many time zones as possible. We tried to ensure good presentation times for the speakers, but this may involve mornings and late evenings for some. We also decided to opt for short sessions and many breaks to further help with scheduling issues and to make sure you can jump in and out of sessions with relative ease. Because of conference online, we decided to go with a single-track setup. Given that we will not see each other in person, many participants of GIScience 2021 will not be able to watch all talks due to their timing. By keeping to a single track, we believe that each presentation will be delivered in front of a substantial audience.
Presentations of short papers are 10 min, while full papers are 15 min. The preferred and safe format of the presentation is PDF, but it is also possible to prepare it in the PowerPoint format (preferably without sound and movie). Please check your connection, video, and audio before your presentation. Presenters can use screen sharing, whiteboard and run live code/software demos within the allocated presentation time. We will follow up with more technical details and online tutorials introducing you to the https://clickmeeting.com/ system that we will be using for the conference. For your convenience, we provide links to that you may find useful in familiarizing yourself with ClickMeeting:

Each session will be recorded and shared online. If you object to having your presentation recorded please let us know by contacting the conference organizers at GIScience2021@gmail.com. If you wish, you can optionally record your presentation on YouTube instead of a live presentation that we can play during a session or in case of technical problems. If you decide to make a recording please email the presentation link to GIScience2021@gmail.com: include the session number, your name, and the presentation title.
To avoid technical issues like screen sharing eating into your presentation and questions time, we will have a joint 20 min discussion / Q&A at the end of each session. If the post-session discussion will be prolonged, it may be continued during the break in the breakout room moderated by the session chair. In addition, a breakout room for informal chatting will be also available during session breaks.
While the 2020 full paper proceedings have been online on conference website, the 2021 papers will be published within the next few weeks.
