Due to the uncertain future impacts of COVID-19, we have had to rethink the GIScience conference scheduled for 2020. Since we did not want you to miss out on the terrific program we had planned for you in Poznan, we have decided in consultation with the GIScience Steering Committee to postpone the conference for a year. GIScience 2021 will be held September 27-30, 2021 in Poznań, Poland. Please mark your calendars.
What does this mean for the authors of already submitted papers and the workshop organizers? The accepted full papers will be published this year in open access Dagstuhl Proceedings. The publication cost will be 60 Euros per paper. Moreover, the authors of accepted full papers will have an option to present their work during regular conference sessions in 2021. A few short papers already submitted will be sent for reviews. As a courtesy, we will share the reviews with the authors and invite them to re-submit updated short papers for a new deadline (forthcoming). We will have a new round of full papers that will be reviewed using the same rules as for the current round. We will also invite the workshop organizers to hold their workshops during GIScience 2021 understanding at the same time that some of them may decide differently – given the timely nature of workshop topics.
